Corona Virus Update | Prometric

Update: April 17, 2020

Over the past several weeks, Prometric has closely monitored the ever-changing events associated with the spread of the COVID-19 virus in countries around the world, and has made decisions impacting our site and corporate operations based on ordinances from local, state, and federal governments, as well as recommendations from the CDC and WHO. The following represent the most recent updates regarding regional resumption of testing activities based on this review.

China

In late January, Prometric made the affirmative decision to close our test center network in China in response to COVID-19. Based on current information provided by the Chinese government and our Beijing corporate office, Prometric will resume testing in many of our China testing locations effective April 20th. In order to comply with government guidelines and to safeguard the health and well-being of test takers and staff, Prometric test centers in China will follow the Chinese Government & Building Management Epidemic Prevention Standard throughout the testing process. For a full list of these procedures, please click here. Please note that these preventative measures may impact the number of workstations in use at each location.

If your appointment was canceled as a result of social distancing, you should have already received an email notification informing you of these policies, as well as instructions on how to reschedule for a future date. No rescheduling fees will be applied, and we are working with your exam sponsor to ensure all program requirements are met.  Please note that if you choose to contact Prometric for assistance, hold times may be extended due to the volume of individuals we are attempting to support.  We thank you for your patience.

North America (U.S. and Canada)

Early after the situation was officially characterized as a pandemic, we made the difficult but necessary decision to close all Prometric test centers in the U.S. and Canada until April 16th. Based on updated information and after careful consideration, we have decided to extend the closure of test centers in the U.S. and Canada until May 1st.

If your exam appointment is impacted by these closure extensions, you will receive an email notification informing you that your appointment has been canceled, and instructions for how to reschedule for a future date.  No rescheduling fees will be applied, and we are working with your exam sponsor to ensure all program requirements are met.  Please note that if you choose to contact Prometric for assistance, hold times may be extended due to the volume of individuals we are attempting to support.  We thank you for your patience.

For All Candidates

If you are looking to schedule a new appointment, you can search for available appointments on our website, https://www.prometric.com/test-takers/search

We will update this website each time new information is available. The operating status of test centers in other locations can be found at www.prometric.com/closures.

Test Center Actions

As we work to re-open test centers, we have adopted enhanced measures in response to COVID-19. All of our test centers are required to abide by the procedures outlined here.

Candidate Safety

Prometric has enacted the following procedures to help ensure your safety during your testing appointment:

  • Permitting test takers to use masks and gloves while they are testing. Please note these items will be subject to visual inspection upon entry to the test center. For a full list of permissible items please check here.
  • Enforcing social distancing practices throughout the check-in and testing process, per local guidance.
  • Providing all Prometric test center staff with protective masks to help reduce the risk of infection.
  • Limiting points of physical contact between staff and test takers.
  • Providing clear, easy to read list of expectations for conduct at the testing center.

Test Center Cleanliness

We have fully reviewed all test center operations and continue to reinforce expected actions at all test centers around the world that will mitigate the risk of spread of the virus at these locations. These procedures include cleaning high-touch surfaces (ex. test stations, keyboard keys, mouse, etc.) before we open, in-between each candidate, and at the end of the day, and providing disposable wipes so that common surfaces can be wiped.

Candidate Support

Our Candidate Care team is continuing to work through a significant number of rescheduling and canceling transactions that are the direct result of COVID-19 procedures. To meet volume-demand needs and ensure the safety of our staff, we have enabled our global CSR team to work from home and have reallocated staff from in-bound phone support to help increase throughput capacity for displacements. We’re continuing to look at options to help us maintain or increase capacity to better support our candidates.

When possible, we recommend you use our self-service, online scheduling services at https://www.prometric.com/test-takers/search. If you need direct support regarding your exam, email and chat functions are enabled via our contact us page. Please note that due to a high-volume of requests, response times may be delayed significantly.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
